I am eternally grateful for how all of you as staff make it possible for me to perform my job every single day. I wouldn't have those wonderful teaching moments, those successful research awards, or those publications without the work that you as staff perform behind the scenes to make it all run smoothly.

It is a crime that Queen's is willing to ignore the plight of staff in the midst of an economic crisis. Why should the ones who hold the most critical role in the everyday functioning of the university receive amongst the lowest salaries and benefits? I have watched superb staff reach the top of their qualification level and be unable to receive salary increases, even though they continue to perform well beyond reasonable expectations. I have been part of more than one failed attempt to have a staff's job category and job description re-classified because what they did on a daily basis far exceeded their job description.

This is the time when management is desperately looking for any place to cut costs that all Queen's workers must be protected and defended. I lend my strongest possible support to your organizing drive.
